여유 RELAXATION

2020

14 hand-made photographic zines.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

In Korean, 여유 is an attitude of relaxing oneself or a comfortable feeling. It is what people need during the stressful pandemic period.

Inspired by Ellen Henriette Suhrke's Touch Tours, I choose to show my wishes in braille languages in my work. As my work is designed to convey a healing feeling to audiences under COVID-19, I want them to get that energy from their visual and tactile senses. The braille says, "Hope you have a good day." I divide the characters of those words into each page. Near the middle and end of the zin, a whole sentence of braille language will appear. Those raised surfaces have a unique power to make people feel peaceful and calm.

Photos in my zine are paired. Readers can quickly identify that "Oh, these two have the same theme." I use the luster photo paper to make my zine. The hole puncher provides the base for Jute Cord to connect pages. Daisy is always the symbol of vivid life and purity, so I also include it as part of my zine.
